Frequently Asked Questions

When should I see a reproductive medicine specialist?

You should consult a reproductive medicine specialist if pregnancy does not occur after 1 year of regular unprotected intercourse (or after 6 months if the woman is over 35), if you have experienced unsuccessful pregnancy attempts (miscarriage or missed miscarriage), or if you wish to preserve your reproductive potential.

What tests should I prepare for the initial consultation?

No specific examinations are required for the initial consultation. It is sufficient to bring any previous test results and medical records, if available. To ensure the consultation is as effective as possible, the doctor will recommend only the tests that are necessary in your particular case.

How is the IVF procedure performed?

First, the ovaries are stimulated to obtain eggs, which are then retrieved under ultrasound guidance. The eggs are fertilized with sperm in an embryology laboratory, followed by transfer of the embryo into the uterine cavity.

How long does the procedure take?

The entire IVF cycle takes approximately 4–6 weeks, depending on individual factors.

Is IVF painful?

The procedures are performed with anesthesiological support and medication-induced sleep, so discomfort and pain are minimized.

Are there any restrictions or contraindications?

Individual contraindications are determined by the doctor during the consultation after a comprehensive clinical and laboratory examination in accordance with Order No. 787 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Can I have an online consultation?

Yes. For patients’ convenience, MIRUM Clinic offers both remote and in-person consultations. The initial consultation with a reproductive medicine specialist is free of charge.

Do I need to prepare for the procedure?

Yes. All recommendations regarding preparation for planned procedures are provided exclusively by the treating physician. Preparation includes a comprehensive examination and following recommendations regarding daily routine and medications.
