About the Procedure

Pediatric endoscopy is an examination of internal organs, such as the stomach, intestines, or airways, using a thin, flexible endoscope with a camera. The procedure allows doctors to examine the child’s condition as comfortably and safely as possible, taking the child’s age and individual characteristics into account. If necessary, light anesthesia or sedation may be used to minimize discomfort.

Preparation for Endoscopy

• Make sure the fasting requirements are followed. The child should not eat or drink for at least 6 hours before the procedure, unless otherwise instructed by the doctor
• Follow the special diet recommended by the doctor for several days before the examination
• Be sure to inform the doctor about any relevant aspects of the child’s health, including medications, allergies, and existing chronic conditions
• The child must come to the procedure accompanied by a parent or legal representative. Their presence provides support and comfort
