Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive examination that provides detailed three-dimensional images of internal organs and tissues without ionizing radiation. What Is the Difference Between MRI With and Without Contrast?
Contrast is a special substance injected into a vein during the examination to improve the visibility of certain structures on the images.
MRI without contrast allows for a basic assessment of the anatomy of a particular body area, hemorrhages, swelling, strokes, and general structural changes.
MRI with contrast improves the visualization of tumors, inflammatory lesions, vascular changes, and postoperative changes. The choice depends on the doctor’s decision based on clinical findings after consultation.
